The California Department of Public Health said Friday that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would provide the state with enough test kits to test up to 1,200 people a day for the virus.
Washington state health officials announced two new coronavirus cases Friday night, including a high school student who attends Jackson High School in Everett, said Dr. Chris Spitters of the Snohomish County Health District.
Health officials in California, Oregon and Washington state anxious about the novel coronavirus spreading through West Coast communities after confirming three patients were infected by unknown means.
"We really believe now that the risk is increasing", she said.
The four new cases announced Friday bring the total number of covid-19 cases detected through the USA public health system to 19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He added that additional US cases are likely.
Additionally, the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif., where one of the unexplained cases is being treated, says that patient didn't meet the CDC's threshold to approve a coronavirus test at first and so diagnosis was delayed for days.

US officials have brushed aside claims that a Taliban ultimatum forced their hand. "We're going to know over the next two weeks". Afghanistan has been ravaged by war since the 2001 invasion of a US-led coalition that brought down the Taliban regime.
"This case does signal to us that it is now time to shift how we respond", she told a news conference on Friday.
The woman was quarantined at the Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro as health officials attempt to determine if she exposed anyone at the school to COVID-19.
Neither patient was seriously ill.
Spitters said he was quarantined at home "and doing well". "My administration has taken the most aggressive action in modern history to prevent the spread of this illness in the United States".
Federal officials think the coronavirus is spread only through "close contact, being within 6 feet of somebody for what they're calling a prolonged period of time", said Dr. James Watt, interim state epidemiologist at the California Department of Public Health.
Even as confirmation was pending there, local authorities were already working to trace close contacts the patients had with others in a bid to curb transmission. There are more than 85,000 confirmed cases worlwide, with at least 2,933 confirmed deaths. The teen's test was also presumptive positive, meaning the CDC will need to confirm. The woman lives in Santa Clara County, about 40 miles from the location of the first case of community-spread coronavirus in Solano County.
In neighboring OR, authorities said Friday an adult who had had contact with people at an elementary school had been hospitalized and was also considered "presumptive positive".
