Trump yet to be tested as new chief of staff quarantines self


US Senator Ted Cruz on Sunday said he would self-quarantine after he had contact with a CPAC political conference attendee who tested positive for coronavirus. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Doug Collins (R-Ga.) in quarantining himself after learning that late last month he was exposed to a CPAC attendee who later tested positive for COVID-19.

A total of seven USA lawmakers announced they have been exposed to someone diagnosed with coronavirus, and Republicans and Democrats considered separate legislative packages to address the economic fallout.

In a press briefing on Monday, Vice President Mike Pence said he did not know whether Trump was tested for the coronavirus, but the White House later clarified that he has not.

"Sen. Cruz has not exhibited symptoms of the coronavirus in the last 11 days and is not now experiencing symptoms", his office said.

"President Trump remains in excellent health, and his physician will continue to closely monitor him", she added.

Meadows was tested for the coronavirus, and although that test came back negative and he has no symptoms, he's staying at home until Wednesday, when the 14-day risk period expires, a person familiar with the matter said.

The patient was able to recall names of people he had been in contact with at CPAC, including the four members of Congress who have announced self-quarantines, according to the office.

And with pictures of a virus-hit cruise ship looming constantly on live television, Trump's tweet on Monday that "life & the economy go on" even when thousands die from flu each year, seemed increasingly out of touch.

A New York Times reporter tweeted her thoughts about an event attendee possibly spreading the coronavirus at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, but she neglected to mention any concern for conservatives at the conference.

"He was not hyper cautious about being in the same space that I was in", said Gaetz to Ben Terris of the Washington Post.
