Floyd Mayweather's Uncle Roger Mayweather Dies Aged 58

Roger Mayweather, the former legendary trainer and uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr., has died at the age of 58, according to TMZ.

Floyd Mayweather reacted after the demise of his Uncle, he said: "My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing". "Unfortunately, his health was failing him for several years and now he can finally rest in peace", Mayweather Jr said in a statement.

The Michigan-born Roger Mayweather held world featherweight and lightweight titles during the 1980s, before hanging up his gloves with 59 wins from 72 fights and turning his attentions to training.

Roger Mayweather also had his share of in-ring success.

Roger was a key member of Floyd's training team, training the 50-0 boxer when he made his pro debut in 1996 until his father, Floyd Senior, was released from prison two years later. It is a awful loss for all of us.

No cause of death has been confirmed.

Floyd Mayweather has been rocked by a second family tragedy in the space of a week. "Roger's spirit lives on with us forever".

Floyd responded by posting a series of photos of the couple on Instagram as a tribute to her.

Last week, Josie Harris, the mother of three of Mayweather's children, was found dead in her vehicle in front of her house in Valencia, California.
