Matthew Wolff hits back at fans over TaylorMade Driving Relief pick

In an interview in late April, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the chief public health expert for Trump's coronavirus task force, said he would not be comfortable returning to a stadium until the infection rate was more low.

On one side of Sunday's TaylorMade Driving Relief charity event will be the formidable firepower of world No. 1 Rory McIlroy and No. 5 Dustin Johnson.

The PGA Tour plans to return on June 11 at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. Trump hosted a conference call with commissioners from most of the prominent North American sports leagues and bodies, including PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

Mike Tirico, who will host the NBC telecast beginning at 2 p.m. EDT from his home office in MI, might have said it best.

"We don't want them having to wear masks and be doing what we've been doing for the last few months, because that's not back to normal", Trump said.

"And we desire to have large crowds for theMasters I recognize, today, that's not what they're preparing, yet you never ever recognize what occurs".

It was the measure of an unusual night's live sport that the US President Donald Trump phoned in during NBC's live coverage of the TaylorMade Driving Relief skins tournament in Florida on Sunday.

As a sport that can be played and covered with social distancing in place, golf now has a real chance to shine at all levels. I know it's very self-serving of me to say no, and if I don't, then it means I'm not putting myself in position to be put under scrutiny and that I'm avoiding that.

Firewatch star Cissy Jones even voices Call of the Sea's lead character Norah, who has crossed an ocean in search of her husband. However, unlike Microsoft's smart delivery system, EA will be doing things differently, meaning there is a catch.

"I do miss it, I haven't played really since this problem we have started, I haven't been able to play golf for a while, I've been very busy".

At one point, Trump was asked about his golf outings with professional players, a group that has included McIlroy, who played with Trump in 2017.

The same policies will be in place next Sunday at nearby Medalist for a charity match of Tiger Woods, who won last year's Masters, and retired National Football League star Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and six-time National Football League champion Tom Brady.

Don't expect them to go golfing together again, though, and it has nothing to do with the blowback McIlroy received from that pairing three years ago.

Trump didn't directly address criticism leveled by McIlroy - the world's top ranked golfer - who last week said during a podcast interview that he was disappointed with the handling of the coronavirus crisis in the USA and that he wouldn't again play golf with the president.

He added: "It's a wonderful thing to see, I'm getting a little exhausted watching 10-year-old golf tournaments where you know who won".

McIlroy also criticised the president's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, and said that he has not been acting like a leader.

"I'll sit here and say that the day that I did spend with him and others was very enjoyable", McIlroy recalled this week of that round with Trump.
