India sees biggest spike in COVID-19 with 6,767 cases


States and UTs that have reported a significant number of corona cases are Kerala (732), Jharkhand (308), Chandigarh (218), Assam (259), Tripura (175), Chhattisgarh (172) and Uttarakhand (153) and Goa (54). He was among 1,140 people who returned to the state by a migrant special train on May 13.

India is the 11th most affected country right now, but its tally of active cases exceeds those of some top-ten countries including Spain, Italy, Germany, Turkey and Iran.

This is for the third time since Friday that the tally of COVID-19 cases has surged beyond 6,000. With 160 deaths in 24 hours, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 stands at 4,021, as per government data.

Tamil Nadu continued to add over 700 coronavirus cases even on Sunday. Coronavirus contaminated 16,277 in the state. Over 41% of the total coronavirus cases - 57,721 individuals - were cured up until this point.

India on Sunday recorded roughly 7,000 new COVID-19 cases, marking its highest single-day jump in coronavirus infections for the fourth consecutive day. The death toll rose to 231. The recovery rate is less than 50% as of now. At least 18 police personnel, including an officer, have died of COVID-19 in the state so far.

States that have reported the most number of casualties, are Maharashtra followed by Gujarat (858), Madhya Pradesh (290), West Bengal (272) and Delhi (261).

As per the John Hopkins University, the United States has the highest number of coronavirus cases around the world at 16,43,246. Till date, 34 areas have been "de-contained" in Delhi.

The Ministry revealed that the number of positive cases between citizens and residents witnessed a significant rise, with the number of infections relating to family gatherings, visits and sharing meals together with relatives and extended families having doubled.

Some passengers and crew members scheduled to board a flight on Monday at New Delhi airport said the mood at the terminal was sombre as security forces implemented strict social distancing norms and passengers donned masks. All the passengers have been asked to download the Aarogya Setu application on their mobile devices and state to ensure thermal screening.
