UNC Ending Disassociation with Reggie Bush

While Reggie Bush starred at USC, the Trojans won a national championship and the running back lifted the Heisman Trophy.

Southern California is welcoming back Heisman Trophy victor Reggie Bush to the school he helped win two national titles, ending a 10-year NCAA-mandated disassociation.

It was that day however that USC was hit with significant penalties, forcing them to disassociate themselves from the 2005 Heisman Trophy victor, before that award was ultimately taken away.

Reggie Bush is considering by many the most exciting college football player of all-time.

Wednesday will bring the 10-year anniversary of that ruling which means that disassociation could quickly be coming to an end. He rushed for 3,169 yards and scored 38 touchdowns from 2003-2005. No Trojan player has used Bush's No. 5 since he left.

Reggie Bush's dissociation with USC is dissolving ... the college is predicted to formally finish his ban from this system this month after 10 YEARS of exile. "He is part of the tradition of the USC. It's only right. He needs a statue, too". He later played for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills, but never made a Pro Bowl, before retiring in 2017. The Trojans were kicked out of the postseason for two years and stripped of a total of 30 soccer scholarships over three seasons.

The sanctions against USC were some of the harshest the NCAA has issued in the past 20 years, even compared to similar cases.

Bush returned to the USC campus only as a broadcaster for FOX Sports during the last 10 years. "I have loved meeting Reggie and many of his teammates, and I am pleased that their dissociation is over so that we can welcome him back to our family". He returned to the Los Angeles Coliseum for a Trojans game for the first time when the Fox show broadcast from inside the stadium before a Friday night contest between USC and Utah.

"It was a terrible feeling, one of the worst feelings in the world", Bush recently told The Athletic about the sanctions USC faced.

Bush was not recognized by the school during that game.

Bush, who played for five teams during his 10-year National Football League career from 2006-2016, also had to return his Heisman Trophy.

How and when Bush will be honored by USC has not been worked out yet, said Bohn.
