CVS The pharmacy giant requires all customers wear face coverings at its 9,900-plus stores across the country as of July 20. The company said it was following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidelines in enacting the policy.
Kroger will require the use of face masks in all its locations from July 22, while department store chain Kohls, whose majority store base already insists on face coverings, will make it a requirement across stores starting July 20. Other companies have indicated they don't want to put their front-line employees into the role of "enforcers". This requirement will not apply to young children and those with medical conditions who are not able to wear face coverings. The company has faced backlash for the decision, with a number of customers ending up on social media after tirades with Costco employees over the requirement. Yet only about half of the USA states require masks in public places.
